Progress...up to our new window
Here are a few new pictures from our bathroom demo leading up to the new window. I will post more pictures, probably tomorrow, since these pictures are about a month old.

Door #1
Our latest project on our house is a remodel of the upstairs bathroom. (Thanks Mom & Dad) Last weekend we started by moving a door.
Before
Framed
Drywall hung and new doorway partially cut out.
Door rehung in new location.
I still have to tape, mud, texturize and paint this area. Moving to door adds about 20 square feet to the bathroom.

WipeOut
Connor got the lead role, Riptide, in Longmont Theater Company's production of "Wipeout"
Wax up your surfboards, get out your beach blankets and catch the wave of
this swell surf musical! It’s just another sunny day at Avalon Beach until Mom
and Pop announce they’re selling their beloved surf shop and teen hangout. The
snobbish developers from the nearby ritzy Cove want Avalon’s stretch of sand…
for a parking lot! But Mom and Pop’s daughter Midge and all the loyal Avalon
kids are determined—they’re not going to let that happen! Riptide, the local
kahuna, enters the big surf contest to vie for the grand prize money that will
keep The Shack’s doors open, but the crowd from the Cove will do anything to put
the kibosh on Rip winning the prize money, including sabotage! When Riptide
breaks his leg in a surfing accident (thanks to the conniving developer’s son
Reef), it’s up to Midge to step onto her Billabong and go up against the big
boys. Pop, a former surfing champion himself, comes through to help his little
surfer girl in a sweet surfing cram session that gets all the kids amped for the
big event! This surf musical—complete with hysterical onstage surfing that’s
easy to stage—takes us back to a simpler time when life was keen, the music was
cool and the world was about to change. Gnarly, dudes! -Pioneer Drama Services

Our June 6th Morning Stroll
We went on another walk today. We found some walking paths and trails we hadn't seen before. We also ran accross a farm with goats. Total distance was 6miles and we were out for two hours (10:13-12:10) We stopped to take some pix. Fine artwork: http://twitpic.com/6rgxj and and pretty mountains: http://twitpic.com/6r61v. Map will be coming soon. Google Maps is experiencing technical difficulties.

We Quit!
Hello Everyone. For your information, Susie and I have both resigned from our jobs and are preparing to go to Tanzania for two years. Actually, I recieved another pastoral call--this coming through ELCA Global Missions. Living in Morogoro, Tanzania, Susie will likely be able to teach, while I work as pastor for the church among the Massai people. Both of us will learn Swahili in the first several months of our time there.
We are extremely excited, although leaving here--our home now for five years, and the home of Susie's family--will be bittersweet. Today, we think we've found a new home for Franklin the Dog. The loyal beasty will be missed, but what better calling for a dog than to be the friend of a boy just entering Jr. High. Leaving Pella Lutheran Church gives us mixed emotions for sure. This was my first call into public ministry and it has been awsome. Yet, all things come to an end.
Mom and Dad are planning to come up next Friday to spend a week or so. We are looking forward to having them around. Perfect time time of year to come to Montana!
Urban Hike
Amy and I took one of our "Urban Hikes" today around Longmont. Our total route was about four miles long. The map below is not entirely accurate since Google will not let us show where we used walking paths.
We saw a mallard standing in the middle of 21st Ave. He barely avoided being hit by a truck. In fact, he never took off just ran out of the way, after being honked at.

Happy Easter!
We had a fantastic Easter here in Austin! We got up early, and went to a great church service at the Austin Stone at 9. Then, we went to Matt's parent's house, and ate way too much food. We also spent probably 45 minutes alone blowing bubbles :) They had a bunch of friends from Lesslye's school come over. One of her friends has little two year old girl, so Matt and I helped the Easter bunny hide eggs for her to find.

Snow Day!
The school district is closed today due to the terrible winter storm. Connor and I are going to bunker down for the day. Amy still has to go to work. I hope Amy is OK on her commute. She has lots of experience with winter driving, having grown up in Minnesota, but Colorado winter driving is just not the same. This is a picture from the front of our house just minutes after we recieved the cancellation. (double-click to enlarge)

Fire Engulfs Flour Mill
LONGMONT — Longmont’s 93-year-old flour mill burned Saturday night, pouring smoke that was visible from at least a mile away.
Firefighters raced to the scene around 10:15 p.m. to find flames leaping several feet above the roof of the mill near the South Pratt Parkway overpass.
“This is unbelievable,” said Sgt. Steve Harper of the Longmont Police Department, one of the first officers on the scene. “I can’t even think right now — this is amazing.”
Battalion Chief Rick VanderVelde said firefighters immediately tried to keep the fire from spreading, but couldn’t do more than that.
“It was too dangerous to make an attack inside,” VanderVelde said. “As soon as we got here, we went defensive.”

Trip to the Valley
One great thing about living in Austin is living so close to Grandma, Grandpa, Thad and Alice! It's only about a five hour drive down there, and luckily I had time off right when Josh, Susie and Tim, Laura, Ted, Joey, Janie and Lydia were going down there too! We had such a great weekend, and it was great to see everyone again. We had a ton of amazing food, went to South Padre Island, and had our own little Christmas, complete with Dad's crazy present game. Check out some of my pictures!!!
